Step 1

While taking care of your car is a vital task, sometimes a breakdown will happen. There’s a lot of things to learn when it comes to car management and sometimes even if you undergo regular oil changes, have the right fluid levels, and keep your car well maintained a breakdown still might happen. Let’s try to be ready for that event!

Step 2

You don’t know where you’ll end up breaking down! It could be down the street from your house, or you could be in between a long desert stretch on a road trip. Before this happens figure out if you have roadside assistance. If you do, save their phone number into your phone and have a written copy of it stored in your car dashboard.

Step 3

Speaking of phones, especially when on long trips, make sure your cellphone and a car charger. Sometimes you’ll be out of luck and have no service, but if that’s not the case, it’ll be way nicer than walking or waiting for help.

Step 4

In the back of your car be sure to carry a bottled water, protein bars, and a few blankets. For any trips in the desert where service for you phone is very limited, it may be smart to also carry an emergency flare.

Step 5

When you are in a breakdown situation, always scope out the best place to wait for help. While your car may be the best place to protect you from unfriendly animals and other unwanted company, if it’s too hot outside staying in your car will be intolerable.

Step 6

Now you’re ready for a worst case, potential breakdown. Maintaining your insurance on your vehicle is vital to be prepared for occasions where your car breaks down in the middle of a lane of traffic, or a sudden brake failure. Auto coverage will help ensure you are not financially burdened by these accidents!
